Individual arrested after alleged alley-way trash fire

Updated: Sep 23, 2021

On Sunday, May 23rd approximately around 5:54pm PST, reports of a structure fire came out, upon arrival, it was just a trash fire in an alley between the 10th & 11th street in Santa Monica, California. Fire officials and/or witnesses said they saw a person start the fire. Santa Monica Police Department found and detained 2 individuals on the scene who may have started the fire from confirmation of witnesses, one detainee was let go at the scene while the other was taken into custody to be booked on most likely arson charges and maybe the destruction of private property. The person taken into custody is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. (Information may be inaccurate but this is what I got from overhearing what the officers were talking about and witnesses.)
